Anything but dowdy! Toni Collette cuts a slimline figure in an optical illusion dress as she glams up for the premiere of The Way, Way Back

She's best known for playing more frumpy characters in films such as Muriel's Wedding and About a Boy.
But Toni Collette proved that she's anything but dowdy these days, as she turned up to the Australian premiere of The Way, Way Back on Thursday looking slimline in an optical illusion dress.
A far cry from her previous image, the 40-year-old proved that she has well and truly cemented herself in the A-list as she stole the show on the red carpet.

And the star showed that she certainly knows how to attract attention, wearing a skintight black gown with nude panelling.

Creating the illusion that she was wearing less material than she actually was, the gown had skin-coloured straps and a panel around the middle.
She added a pair of black ankle-strap stilettos and wore just a simple bracelet on one wrist, leaving most of the focus on the dramatic dress.

The mother-of-two wore her blonde hair loose and tousled and went to town on her make-up, creating dark, smokey eyes with a little kohl and light pink lipgloss.
Toni seemed to be flying solo for the event, having left husband Dave Galafassi and young children Sage and Arlo at home.
So0 she made do with cosying up to Sydney Film Festival Board Chairman Chris Freeland and co-star Steve Carell.
