Call the style queen - Miranda gets a £2,000 makeover
She made her name playing a bumbling
and scruffy shop assistant in her eponymous BBC sitcom and went on to
capture the hearts of the nation playing Chummy Browne in Call The
Midwife.
But now comedy actress Miranda Hart is carving out a new role for herself – as a style queen.
The star hired celebrity stylist Angie Smith – who also looks after Dannii Minogue, Tali Lennox, Nigella Lawson, Petra Ecclestone and Jessica Ennis – to give her a dramatic new look for the Glamour Women of the Year Awards last week.
Wearing studded leather shoes and
sporting a new slicked-back hairstyle, the 40-year-old certainly looked
miles apart from her owlish character Chummy.
‘I don’t recognise myself,’ said Miranda at the event. ‘I love the hairstyle. People have been asking me about my new look...but I’ve come over all shy.’
Her wardrobe cost almost £2,000. Her jacket was made by Royal wedding dress designer Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and cost £1,145, her £545 shoes were by Christian Louboutin, and the £200 cropped black trousers were from Joseph.
‘I promised them that I’d stop at three but I’ve got six and plan another three,’ Jourdan said at The Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London. ‘They are all in hidden places, though.’
However, the 22-year-old is contemplating following the example set by her pal Cara Delevingne and having a tattoo that could be easily spotted.
Cara recently had a lion inked
on to her forefinger and the letters ‘CJD’ on her hand. Jourdan said: ‘I
would consider a tattoo on my finger. It would look cool.’
Most model agencies discourage tattoos because they are difficult to cover up in photoshoots.
Cara and Jourdan are both at Storm, the agency that discovered Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

Kylie
Minogue is well-known for squeezing into tiny hot pants, so I was
surprised to learn she has been offering fashion advice to
larger-than-life Aussie actress Rebel Wilson.
‘Kylie
told me I should get a corset and sing through the pain when I wear
it,’ said Rebel after collecting the best film actress award from the
pop star at the glitzy Glamour Women of the Year bash in Mayfair.
‘She is going to send me a list of her favourite corset designers.’
Rebel,
27, starred in the musical comedy movie Pitch Perfect last year, but
made her name in the ‘female Hangover’ Bridesmaids in 2011.

Jourdan creates a bit of an ink
Jourdan Dunn could be in trouble with her model agency – for getting too many tattoos.‘I promised them that I’d stop at three but I’ve got six and plan another three,’ Jourdan said at The Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London. ‘They are all in hidden places, though.’
However, the 22-year-old is contemplating following the example set by her pal Cara Delevingne and having a tattoo that could be easily spotted.
